Dental Implants
June 20th, 2010Let’s talk briefly about a few of the benefits of dental implants.
1. Dental implants allow for the replacement of missing teeth without compromising the health of other healthy teeth. Other available methods of replacing teeth such as a permanent or removable bridge rely on adjacent teeth for support, often lead to a decreased longevity of these teeth.
2. Another benefit of dental implants is the preservation of bone. When a tooth is lost, the bone which supported that tooth gradually resorbs away. If an implant is used to replace the missing tooth, the majority of the bone is preserved.
3. The last benefit I would like to mention is the outstanding longevity of dental implants. Dental implants do not get cavities, or root canals and rarely have gum disease. When utilized in the correct manner they can provide many years of service and have the potential to last for the lifetime of the patient.
